The Brisbane Lions were founded in 1996 from a merger of Fitzroy and the Brisbane Bears. They were the colours maroon, blue and gold. The Lions training facilities are at Springfield Central Stadium and home matches are played at the GABBA.
The Gold Coast Suns were founded in 2009 and wear the colours red gold and blue. The Suns training facilities are at Heritage Bank Stadium and home matches are played at Heritage Bank Stadium.
